United player ratings v Partizan Belgrade

United beat Partizan Belgrade 1-0 in Serbia to move to the top of their Europa League group.

It means that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will qualify for the knockout stages if they beat Partizan in the reverse fixture at home on November 7th.

As ever, Alex Seymour covered the game, and posted his player ratings after the final whistle.

Sergio Romero – 6
Slipped early and seemed more nervous than usual during the opening period. Made a good save in the second half.

Phil Jones – 6
Had a few “Phil Jones” moments, but did ok on the whole.

Harry Maguire – 6
Overall, a solid performance as captain. His first time with the armband for United.

Marcos Rojo – 6
Did his job well. Has maintained a reasonable level of composure for a few games now. Perhaps the competition for places in his position has helped.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6
Did what he does. Subbed in the second half.

Scott McTominay – 6
Took responsibility in front of the defence and in the attacking third when it was required. Clearly one of the few United players who are playing with confidence at the moment.

James Garner – 5
Gave the ball away twice early on but he should be pleased in general.

Brandon Williams – 7
Tried to get forward when he could, and it was his run that won United the penalty. Probably United’s most impressive player.

Juan Mata – 5
Not creative enough, which is what you want from him. Worked hard for the team.

Jesse Lingard – 5
Another poor evening for Lingard. Hit the post, but his form this year has been woeful.

Anthony Martial – 6
Good to see him starting and scoring from the penalty spot. Must get a run of games now though.

Marcus Rashford (Martial) – 5
Plenty of effort but didn’t trouble the Partizan defence.

Andreas Pereira (Garner) – 5
Not enough time to make an impact.

Daniel James (Wan-Bisakka) – 5
Tried to get forward but was bullied a little.
